The Salon Series promotes women's leadership in the Chicago theatre community and provides
a unique network for theatre artists to share in their artistic diversity.
The Networking Reception preceeding each performance is a chance to get information
on upcoming events and opportunities. We encourage theatre representatives to bring press on their upcoming events and
for actors, designers, administrators and other theatre artists to bring their resumes to distribute.
Networking Reception begins at 7:20pm. All Salon readings begin promptly at 7:30pm.
September Salon: September 13, 2005 @ The Side Studio (1520 W. Jarvis, Chicago)
A workshop reading of Sara Keely McGuire's poetic play Hotel California, directed by Alison
Dornheggen.
Hotel California is a mythic tale which takes place in the twenty-four hours between midnight
on March 14 and Midnight on March 15, the ides of March. A cult-like group of Caesar worshipers await the fulfillment of it’s
leader’s prophecy that one day Julius Caesar will return in his reincarnated form to lead people in to an idyllic but
brutal new era. The search for identity in an environment of fear, confusion, and control is central to the plot. A mother,
a mouse, three lovers, a voice in the wall, and a madman all strive for their individual definitions of strength, power and
overcoming conditioning, all this before the clock strikes twelve.

The Women's Theatre Alliance of Chicago has been providing theatre opportunities for emerging women theatre artists and
theatre professionals since 1992. WTA finds opportunities for women to gain visibility for themselves and their work
by creating a network of artists in the theatre community. WTA connects working professionals, students and the theatre-loving,
mostly female audience through a newsgroup, member directory and website.
